Meetings & Events Las Vegas Hosts Summer Event at Simon Restaurant for the Meeting Planning Industry
For Immediate Release:
Las Vegas (Aug. 04, 2011) — For the third time this year, Meetings & Events Las Vegas (MELV) held their quarterly event, a mixer soiree that brings event planners, hospitality vendors, and industry professionals together. More than 200 meeting professionals attended the Summer Event held at the Simon Restaurant and Lounge at Palms Place, once again proving that the event planning industry is flourishing in 2011.

Although each event has a different theme, the goal remains the same: connect meeting planner clients with hospitality suppliers and industry professionals. This season’s event at the Simon Restaurant and Lounge at Palms Place allowed for attendees to mingle at their leisure while sampling a vast variety of foods, ranging from high-end sushi to luxurious desserts at various food stations. Guests attending the MELV event were offered a chance tour the Penthouse prior to the event.

“Every quarterly event meeting Planner Resources selects a local non- profit organization to support,” said Jennifer Mahar Mulder, Associate Publisher for Meetings & Events Las Vegas. “This event’s MELV partners included Super Summer Theatre, Canyon Gate Country Club, Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant, Palm Restaurant, Vinter Grill, Paymon’s Mediterranean Restaurant and Lounge, Minus 5 Ice Bar, Suncoast Hotel and Casino, Hyatt Place, Bootleg Canyon Flightlines, Billy Bob’s Steakhouse at Sam’s Town, and Frightlines on Freemont Street. All of our partners made some very generous donations and because of that we were able to raise enough money to fund 36 night stays at the Ronald McDonald House for families in need.”

Each year the proceeds raised through raffle prizes generously donated by many industry leaders help aid a charitable cause. This year’s recipient was the Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) of Greater Las Vegas. This organization provides temporary housing for families who travel to Las Vegas to receive medical treatment for their children. RMHC of Greater Las Vegas also works to better the lives of children and their families in Southern Nevada through Lunch is On Us, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile and the RMHC Scholarship program.

“We were delighted when Meetings & Events Las Vegas chose to donate their raffle proceeds to us. This donation comes at a critical time, as our occupancy rates soar during the summer,” said Courtney Loughridge, Director of Fund Development at RMHC of Greater Las Vegas. “Parents often schedule critical procedures and treatments for their child when they are out of school — and they and their families count on us for lodging and support.”

With the continued success of the quarterly events, Meetings & Events Las Vegas is anxiously awaiting the Fall 2011 mixer, scheduled for November 03, 2011.
