Las Vegas Meetings by Harraha's Entertainment Grows with Expansion of Convention Facilities at Caesars Palace: 110,000-square-foot meeting space expansion opens with several large bookings
For Immediate Release:
LAS VEGAS, July 30, 2009 – Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah’s Entertainment today announced that the 110,000-square-foot expansion of the meeting facilities at Caesars Palace opened as planned on Saturday, July 11. The expansion brings the resort’s total meeting space to over 300,000 square feet, and signifies the company’s continued commitment to serving meetings and conventions.
“We have many customers who have wanted the Caesars Palace product but whose capacity and configuration needs were not met by the existing space,” said Michael Massari, vice president of meeting sales and operations for Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah’s Entertainment. “This expansion gives us the ability to serve those customers, and we’re thrilled that demand for events at Caesars Palace supported the expansion of our facilities at this time.”
The expanded facility opened with its first program, United Franchise Group, utilizing a majority of the new space.
“Bringing our group’s meeting to Caesars Palace was an easy decision,” said Tipton Shonkwiler, Senior Executive with United Franchise Group and Director of Plan Ahead Events. “The Caesars Palace name, their highly regarded reputation, and the new meeting space made it an obvious choice. The team at Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah’s Entertainment was experienced and accommodating. I would highly recommend planners bring their programs to Las Vegas for the best value and return on your investment.”
The expansion provides planners with increased flexibility across the brand’s seven distinct properties. “We are very committed to the meetings business,” said Massari, “and we continue to seek out opportunities to enhance our offerings in such a way that we can better meet the needs of customers who have come to appreciate the differentiators that we’ve put in place – like our Seven-Stop Strategy, alternative venue options, and Meeting Diamond program – with the Las Vegas Meetings by Harrah’s Entertainment brand.”
The addition comprises a 263,000-square–foot (wall-to-wall) convention center that connects seamlessly to the existing meeting space in the Palace Tower. The facility is constructed on two levels and includes two 52,000-square-foot ballrooms as well as several meeting and board rooms, grand promenades and added banquet kitchens and support facilities. A large terrace with private swimming pools, perfect for private events, is set to open in early September.
The interior design complements the existing Conference Center, contemporary yet elegant, allowing for an array of décor opportunities. Large programs benefit from the addition of up to over 50 breakout options, which can be configured in combination with the numerous other meeting rooms and ballrooms throughout the facility to serve even the most complex programs. The space will also provide an ideal environment for product and entertainment productions, with ceiling heights of 26 and 28 feet, respectively, and industry-leading audio-visual and data systems. Direct access to fiber optic hubs and perfect positioning for satellite transmission will enable efficient broadcast solutions.
