For the more adventurous set, Las Vegas offers the option of renting an exotic sports car for part of your stay, but if driving isn’t in the cards, know the ins and outs of the fabulous and convenient Las Vegas Monorail.
New McCarran Airport Terminal
To keep up with the approximately 41.5 million visitors to Las Vegas each year that come through the McCarran International Airport, it recently expanded by opening a brand-new terminal in June 2012 that aims to keep this busy portal on pace with the ever-soaring popularity of this amazing destination for business and leisure trips year round.
The massive new Terminal 3 (also known as T3) has 1.9 million square feet on three levels and a spacious eight-mile roadway system designed for efficient vehicle mobility. A new eight-story parking garage with nearly 6,000 spaces complements the new facility and will fulfill the airport’s parking needs for decades to come. At maximum capacity, the addition of the new terminal will enable the airport to serve approximately 53 million arriving and departing passengers annually.
Of T3’s 14 gates, seven can handle direct international arrivals to service the increasing number of guests coming from abroad to experience the city. In addition to servicing all of its own needs on the new Concourse E, T3 also can support the check-in, security screening and baggage claim needs of up to 26 of the 45 gates on the D Concourse, located only a 45-second tram ride away, which greatly will relieve peak period congestion.
The new terminal also features some of the latest airline technologies that increase efficiency and reduce wait times as well as excellent shopping and dining options and free wireless Internet and mobile-device recharging stations to make the experience more pleasurable for everyone who visits Las Vegas. So fly on in and enjoy your stay.
McCarran Rent-A-Car Center
Unlike many other airports at which the rental car counters are located directly in the terminal, McCarran International Airport operates a little differently, with its rental center located a few miles away. But not to worry—the airport still offers access to all of the biggest and best nationally known companies and provides a convenient way to get there.
Located at 7135 Gilespie Street, the McCarran Rent-A-Car Center is only three miles from the airport and provides easy access to Interstates 15 and 215 and the Las Vegas Strip. So once you have your rental car, you’re more than halfway there. Open 24 hours, the center has state-of-the-art customer service facilities, including convenient self-service flight and baggage check-in.
— From Airport to Rental Center
Upon arrival in Las Vegas, car rental customers ride one of the 50 complimentary dedicated blue-and-white McCarran Rent-A-Car Center shuttles to the building that houses all of the car rental companies. In Terminal 1, passengers access the shuttle from Baggage Claim by following the signs to Ground Transportation on Level 1 and proceeding to the shuttles at the center median outside Doors 10 and 11. In the new Terminal 3, passengers access the shuttle from Baggage Claim by following the signs to Ground Transportation on Level Zero and proceeding to the shuttles located outside West Doors 1–4 and East Doors 5–8.
— From Rental Center to Airport
After your stay in beautiful Las Vegas, the McCarran Rent-A-Car Center can be found by following the signs to the Rental Car Return entrance off of Gilespie Street. After returning the vehicle, passengers proceed through the lobby and out the main entrance to the blue-and-white shuttles, which depart to the airport approximately every five minutes. Make sure to pay attention to the signage and board the appropriate shuttle to Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 for your departing flight.
Whether picking up or dropping off, the McCarran Rent-A-Car Center is convenient and here to serve travelers on the go. So buckle up, take a ride and enjoy the drive while in Las Vegas.
