Meetings & Events Las Vegas recently held its second quarterly event, a mixer soirée that brings event planners, hospitality vendors and industry professionals together. More than 600 meeting professionals attended the spring event held at the brand-new Hakkasan Las Vegas at the MGM Grand along the Las Vegas Strip, once again proving that the event-planning industry is on the rise in 2013.
Although each event has a different theme, the goal remains the same: to connect meeting planner clients with hospitality suppliers and industry professionals. This season’s event kicked off the premiere weekend and unveiling of the ground-floor restaurant component of the AMG-managed Hakkasan Las Vegas as part of its five-level takeover of MGM Grand’s nightlife scene. The massive combination restaurant, lounge and nightclub crowns its $100-million dream project with a room helmed by
Michelin-starred Chef Ho Chee Boon who serves up his modern Cantonese cuisine.
As one of the first events held at Hakkasan Las Vegas, this
Meetings & Events Las Vegas mixer enabled attending industry professionals to tour the five-level club, and many took advantage of being a true insider and one of the first to see the new venue. Despite the 80,000-square-foot multilevel environment, the restaurant itself feels like an intimate atmosphere with a design that takes a contemporary spin on romanticized Chinoiserie with latticed wooden dividers that create an intricate maze of airy, open rooms known as “cages.” Seating throughout the venue includes clusters around small tables and different combinations with long banquettes. The lengthy bar, lit with mesmerizing wall projections, glows from a dark blue underlit top.
“At every quarterly event Meeting Planner Resources selects a local nonprofit organization to support,” says Jennifer Mahar, associate publisher for
Meetings & Events Las Vegas. The proceeds raised through raffle prizes generously donated by many industry leaders help aid a charitable cause. This event’s recipient was the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), which is a nonprofit organization that operates a no-kill animal sanctuary and challenges people to be the best possible guardians for the companion animals in their care. Nevada SPCA treats each animal as an individual while striving to match each rescued animal with people by personality and lifestyle so every single one has the best chance to find a forever home.
“Thank you again for including Nevada SPCA in you big event,” says Doug Duke of the Nevada SPCA, “There was amazing energy there, and we brought back $650 in raffle proceeds that we can apply to animal rescue and advanced medical care costs at Nevada SPCA. This will make an important difference in saving many innocent lives.”
“All of our partners made some very generous donations and because of that we were able to raise $650 to enable Nevada SPCA to continue to pursue its mission," Mahar adds. "This event’s partners included Blue Man Group, Bootleg Canyon Flightline, Buca de Beppo, Cafe Rio Mexican Grill, Callaway, The Capital Grille, Courtyard by Marriott, Exotics Racing, Ferraro's Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar, Hash House A Go Go, Heraea, Pampas Brazillian Grille, P.J. Clarke's New York Chophouse, Planet Hollywood, Shutterbooth, Trade Show Technical and Vintner Grill.”
