Meetings & Events Las Vegas Hosts Winter Event at BB King's Blues Club for the Meeting Planning Industry

For the first time this year, Meetings & Events Las Vegas held its quarterly event, a mixer soirée that brings event planners, hospitality vendors and industry professionals together. More than 200 meeting professionals attended the winter event held at the BB King’s Blues Club at The Mirage Hotel and Casino, once again proving that the event-planning industry is flourishing in 2012.
Although each event has a different theme, the goal remains the same: to connect meeting planner clients with hospitality suppliers and industry professionals. This season’s event at the BB King’s Blues Club allowed for attendees to mingle at their leisure while sampling from a menu offering a variety of delicious Southern comfort food influenced by flavors from New Orleans to the Mississippi Delta. The intimate supper club-style restaurant is also a fantastic live music venue with some of the finest local entertainment in town, featuring the fabulous B.B. King All-Star Band. “We were excited to host the MELV 2012 winter event! It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our unique, live music venue, classic southern comfort food and venue flexibility," states Nicole Ismert, sales, marketing and events manager for BB King's Blues Club. "Grant Garland’s blues and Motown tunes accompanied our white cheddar mac-and-cheese bar to create the perfect pair for attendees to see what BB King’s has to offer. It was a great night, and we are looking forward to the next event!”
“At every quarterly event Meeting Planner Resources selects a local nonprofit organization to support,” says Jennifer Mahar, Associate Publisher for Meetings & Events Las Vegas. The proceeds raised through raffle prizes generously donated by many industry leaders help aid a charitable cause. This year’s recipient was Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas. This organization revitalizes and stabilizes neighborhoods in the community that cannot support private development, building single-family homes throughout Clark County for working families earning less than 80 percent of the area median income. The homes are sold at no profit through a no-interest mortgage. Families volunteer their labor to help build the homes, including the one they will eventually purchase.
“This event’s partners included Palm Restaurant, Vinter Grill, Atomic Testing Museum, Blue Man Group, Awesome Adventures, Minus5 Ice Bar, Ferraro's italian Restaurant and Wine Bar, Bouchon in Las Vegas, Bootleg Canyon Flightlines, Billy Bob’s Steakhouse and Saloon at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall, Flightlinez on Freemont Street and much more,” says Mahar, “All of our partners made some very generous donations and because of that we were able to raise enough money to enable Habitat for Humanity to continue to pursue its mission.”
“The support of Meetings & Events Las Vegas gives Habitat for Humanity the ability to reach out to individuals and communities, offering a hand up not a hand out, making a difference one family at a time, one neighborhood at a time,” says Troy Simmons, director of retail operations for Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas. Of the donation given, Simmons remarks that it “will go directly to this cause—maybe not so glamorous, but so important. The donations will go to repair our box—the truck we use to pick up lumber, paint, roof tiles and other donations we use to build homes and repair neighborhoods.”
