Meetings & Events Las Vegas Hosts Summer 2010 Event at V Theater For the Meeting Planning Industry

Las Vegas (August 24, 2010) — Meetings & Events Las Vegas (MELV) held their much anticipated Summer Event, a mixer soiree for event planners, hospitality vendors, and industry professionals, on August 5th, 2010. More than 200 meeting professionals attended the event, which was held on the Veranda at the V Theater over looking the Miracle Mile at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Meeting planners and convention partners came in locally and from nearby states like California and Arizona while others traveled further in order to attend the event and meet the hospitality partners for upcoming events they are planning in the Las Vegas Valley. The evening also proved to be beneficial for developing newfound business relationships. Juanita Bryant, Immediate Past President of the International Association of Administrative Professionals said, “I really had an opportunity to meet some very beneficial companies and made some new connections for my future planning objectives.”

Upon arrival, guests were given vouchers to a complimentary showing of VEGAS! THE SHOW. Patrick Vinson, Director of Sales & Marketing at the V Theater Event Center said, "We were pleased to host the MELV Summer Event and share planning ideas with everyone there. And, we were especially proud to invite everyone in attendance to watch our newest live stage production entitled VEGAS! THE SHOW. The mayor of our city even proclaimed it ‘VEGAS! THE SHOW’ day at the grand opening last week!"

The quarterly event was orchestrated by MELV Associate Publisher Jennifer Mahar Mulder. Mulder gives praise to Divine Events who catered the event and showcased a gourmet taco station featuring their Dr. Pepper carnitas, and passed appetizers from lamb kafta meatballs and lump crab cakes to roasted bloody mary bay shrimp cocktail, shellfish ceviche, and spanikopitas. There was something for everyone down to the variety of flavored mousse shots for dessert. “The venue and amazing food coupled with an open bar and photo booth provided by Las Vegas Photo Party, made for a fun-filled event and allowed for the high standard of quality events our company is accustomed to hosting,” Mulder stated at the end of the evening. Ann Parsons, Marketing Director of Vegas Weddings agreed saying, “The venue was very cozy with an array of wonderful food and beverages!”

The Summer Event was generously supported by a multitude of sponsors who donated raffle prizes with 100% of the proceeds going to the Meeting and Events Las Vegas charity of choice: Three Square. With a mission to provide wholesome food to hungry people, Three Square is passionately pursuing a hunger free community. More than $4,000 worth of generous donations was received from the following organizations: Silverstone Golf Club; Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar; Bouchon at The Venetian; Paymon’s; Richardo’s; Dollar Rent A Car; Nevada Ballet Theatre; Vegas! The Show; V-The Ultimate Variety Show; The Mentalist Live; and Marc Savard – Comedy Hypnosis. The money donated to Three Square provided 1,170 meals to those in need in the Las Vegas Valley.

Artist management and event planning company My Las Vegas Connection brought guests Mikalah Gordon and David Hernandez of American Idol fame, who were graciously taking photos and mingling with the guests.

Industry professional, Shari Sutton of Sutton Watkins Advertising & Marketing got a chance to meet and chat with prospective clients without the usual uneasiness sometimes associated with a sales call. “MELV networking events are a great way to connect with people in our industry. They’re well organized and entertaining, providing a great opportunity to meet new clients and suppliers,” stated Sutton.

“Our management team really enjoyed themselves and it was an amazing networking event,” said Carlinda "Carli" Collins of Nite Tours International which pioneered the club crawl concept and offers packages for small and large groups. “An excellent event with the right mix of business networking and great new people to meet ...well done,” exclaimed Bob Cooper, Economic Development Manager for the City of Henderson.

To continue the success garnered this season, Meetings & Events Las Vegas already has three more events planned which will continue the theme of connecting meeting planners with significant vendors and professionals.
