Las Vegas Dining at Its Best
The widely known Vic & Anthony’s has several locations throughout the country, including one in Downtown Las Vegas at the Golden Nugget Hotel. With a focus on the best steak and seafood dishes around, menu highlights include the vast Porterhouse for Two and a zesty Szechuan Pepper-Crusted Tuna as well as classic salads and sides that will please any diner. The Las Vegas location also offers a private tasting room with beautiful wine-country murals and seating for up to 18.

The Golden Nugget Hotel also offers an array of worldly cuisine at its diverse restaurants. Grotto features authentic Italian classics, such as fresh antipasti; spectacular chicken, veal and fish entrées; and delicious homemade pastas in a friendly and inviting atmosphere that is perfect for an intimate dinner or large groups. Lillie’s Asian Cuisine offers a fusion of traditional Cantonese, Szechwan and Pan-Asian flair and the excitement of live-chef interactions at Teppanyaki tables. Plus, Red Sushi focuses on traditional Japanese cuisine in a chic, contemporary ambiance that caters to cravings for fresh, handcrafted sushi and sashimi or native Japanese sake and beer selections.

So if you’re of the mind that all the good Las Vegas restaurants are found only on the Strip, think again and try one of these excellent options in the revitalized and reinvigorated Downtown Las Vegas.

Meatless marvels

In today’s diverse society, there always will be someone who does not eat meat or animal products for ethical or dietary reasons. These days that doesn’t mean relegating them to a simple salad or cold vegetable plate. Las Vegas abounds in quality vegetarian- and vegan-friendly restaurants that offer delicious, meat-free alternatives that will wow anyone around, even meat eaters. Many focus on Asian cuisines, which naturally offer more vegetarian-friendly options, but others are taking the raw and healthful lifestyle to another level.

— Indian Cuisine
One of the most prevalent vehicles for vegetarian and vegan cuisine is Indian food since much of the country’s population does not eat meat. Las Vegas offers several convenient options full of flavors straight from the subcontinent.

At the north end of the Las Vegas Strip since late 2010, Bombay Indian Cuisine has paved the way for Indian and Bombay cuisine in Las Vegas while making dining easier for vegans. The menu reflects the cultural diversity of Bombay, with influences from south Indian, Gujarati, Punjabi and Goan cuisines. Plus, it provides the freshest ingredients suitable for vegan customers with a large dedicated section of the menu and a lunch buffet of which nearly half is suitable for vegetarians. Bombay Indian Cuisine is also a great place for hosting private events.

Around the corner from the Stratosphere, India Oven is a great place to find authentic Indian food. The vegetarian entrées are the first thing on the menu, and there are 15 of them, followed by a large selection of authentic Indian dishes ranging from sizzling Tandoori to exotic lamb and chicken made with traditional spices imported from India. India Oven also offers an exotic selection of Indian wine and beer and provides catering for conventions, corporate meetings and private parties.

Just a short drive east of the Strip on Flamingo Road, Mint Indian Bistro offers a uniquely exotic and enchanting dining experience that fuses the fresh, tasty and colorful food of the Hindu and Buddhist cultures. The menu explicitly lists which appetizers and breads are vegan and offers seven vegan entrées as well as vegetarian options and a vegetarian, gluten-free prix fixe dinner for two. For lunch, the restaurant’s Nirvana Lunch Buffet is almost entirely vegetarian with some dishes specifically labeled as vegan, and diners even can enjoy a sampling of vegan beers and wines at its Lassi Bar.

Namaste
, located in the Commercial Center, offers the best in Las Vegas Indian fine dining. Listing more than a dozen vegetarian entrées not counting the South Indian dosas, the menu also offers to prepare dishes for vegan diets upon request. In addition, Namaste can accommodate large groups of up to 120 in its grand Banquet Hall and offers catering and delivery for special events off site.

— Thai Cuisine
With the deliciously tangy and spicy flavors of Southeast Asia, a few amazing Thai restaurants in Las Vegas provide excellent options for vegans and vegetarians.

Komol Thai Restaurant, touted as serving authentic Thai and vegetarian cuisine, is located in Village Square less than a mile from the Strip. The menu is full of authentic, MSG-free Thai recipes that have been in the family for more than 40 years. Notably, Komol offers the best and largest vegan and vegetarian menu in Las Vegas with several unique selections, such as vegan Thai iced tea with coconut milk and a special green papaya Pad Thai. Plus, any dishes not already vegetarian can be made so upon request with tofu or soy-based chicken, shrimp, duck or fish.

Lemongrass at Aria Resort & Casino is the first and only Thai restaurant in a Las Vegas resort on the Strip. Providing an exotic dining experience with its modern interpretation of Thai cuisine, Lemongrass specializes in creating a variety of authentic Thai dishes full of robust flavor. Its many vegetarian options conveniently are labeled with leaf symbols, but for starters, try the spicy papaya salad or spicy Pad Thai with crispy tofu.

— Healthy and Raw Cuisine

Not all vegetarian and vegan cuisine is exclusively Asian. Several Las Vegas restaurants keep it healthy by offering a variety of options that go beyond the meat.
