Press Release
For the third time this year, Meetings & Events Las Vegas held its quarterly event, a mixer soiree that brings event planners, hospitality vendors and industry professionals together. More than 400 meeting professionals attended the summer event held at Senor Frog’s Las Vegas at Treasure Island, once again proving that the event-planning industry is flourishing in 2013.

Although each event has a different theme, the goal remains the same: to connect meeting planner clients with hospitality suppliers and industry professionals. This season’s event at Senor Frog’s allowed for attendees to mingle at their leisure while sampling from a menu of fun Mexican dishes while being surrounded by a vibrant atmosphere of fun bright colors, sights, sounds and textures with its many decorative elements, signs and banners.

“At every quarterly event Meeting Planner Resources selects a local nonprofit organization to support,” says Jennifer Mahar, associate publisher for Meetings & Events Las Vegas. The proceeds raised through raffle prizes generously donated by many industry leaders help aid a charitable cause. This event’s recipient was the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), an organization that raises awareness and helps meet the needs of injured service members by providing a variety of uniquely directed programs and services. With the mission to honor and empower Wounded Warriors, WWP encourages veterans with physical to the invisible wounds of war as they adjust to their new normal and achieve new triumphs.

“This event’s partners included Big Bus Tours, Blue Man Group, Bootleg Canyon Flightlines, Cafe Rio Mexican Grill, Dal Toro Ristorante Events Center, Hash House A Go Go, Links International, National Atomic Testing Museum, Pampas Brazilian Grille, Taylor Made, Vegas Indoor Skydiving and Vintner Grill,” says Mahar. “All of our partners made some very generous donations and along with Meetings & Events Las Vegas’ own $300 donation, we were able to raise a total of $750 to help the Wounded Warrior Project to continue to pursue its mission.”

With the continued success of the quarterly events, Meetings & Events Las Vegas anxiously is awaiting the fall 2013 mixer, scheduled for November 7, 2013. For more information about upcoming events and to register for the fall event, visit www.MeetingsAndEventsLasVegas.com/rsvp/.

Meetings & Events Las Vegas recently held its second quarterly event, a mixer soirée that brings event planners, hospitality vendors and industry professionals together. More than 600 meeting professionals attended the spring event held at the brand-new Hakkasan Las Vegas at the MGM Grand along the Las Vegas Strip, once again proving that the event-planning industry is on the rise in 2013.

Although each event has a different theme, the goal remains the same: to connect meeting planner clients with hospitality suppliers and industry professionals. This season’s event kicked off the premiere weekend and unveiling of the ground-floor restaurant component of the AMG-managed Hakkasan Las Vegas as part of its five-level takeover of MGM Grand’s nightlife scene. The massive combination restaurant, lounge and nightclub crowns its $100-million dream project with a room helmed by Michelin-starred Chef Ho Chee Boon who serves up his modern Cantonese cuisine.

As one of the first events held at Hakkasan Las Vegas, this Meetings & Events Las Vegas mixer enabled attending industry professionals to tour the five-level club, and many took advantage of being a true insider and one of the first to see the new venue. Despite the 80,000-square-foot multilevel environment, the restaurant itself feels like an intimate atmosphere with a design that takes a contemporary spin on romanticized Chinoiserie with latticed wooden dividers that create an intricate maze of airy, open rooms known as “cages.” Seating throughout the venue includes clusters around small tables and different combinations with long banquettes. The lengthy bar, lit with mesmerizing wall projections, glows from a dark blue underlit top.

“At every quarterly event Meeting Planner Resources selects a local nonprofit organization to support,” says Jennifer Mahar, associate publisher for Meetings & Events Las Vegas. The proceeds raised through raffle prizes generously donated by many industry leaders help aid a charitable cause. This event’s recipient was the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), which is a nonprofit organization that operates a no-kill animal sanctuary and challenges people to be the best possible guardians for the companion animals in their care. Nevada SPCA treats each animal as an individual while striving to match each rescued animal with people by personality and lifestyle so every single one has the best chance to find a forever home.

“Thank you again for including Nevada SPCA in you big event,” says Doug Duke of the Nevada SPCA, “There was amazing energy there, and we brought back $650 in raffle proceeds that we can apply to animal rescue and advanced medical care costs at Nevada SPCA. This will make an important difference in saving many innocent lives.”

“All of our partners made some very generous donations and because of that we were able to raise $650 to enable Nevada SPCA to continue to pursue its mission," Mahar adds. "This event’s partners included Blue Man Group, Bootleg Canyon Flightline, Buca de Beppo, Cafe Rio Mexican Grill, Callaway, The Capital Grille, Courtyard by Marriott, Exotics Racing, Ferraro's Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar, Hash House A Go Go, Heraea, Pampas Brazillian Grille, P.J. Clarke's New York Chophouse, Planet Hollywood, Shutterbooth, Trade Show Technical and Vintner Grill.”

With the continued success of the quarterly events, Meetings & Events Las Vegas is anxiously awaiting the summer 2013 mixer, scheduled for early August. For the first time this year, Meetings & Events Las Vegas held its quarterly event, a mixer soirée that brings event planners, hospitality vendors and industry professionals together. More than 300 meeting professionals attended the winter event held at the Bagatelle Las Vegas adjacent to the Tropicana Hotel along the Las Vegas Strip, once again proving that the event-planning industry is flourishing in 2013.

Although each event has a different theme, the goal remains the same: to connect meeting planner clients with hospitality suppliers and industry professionals. This season’s event at Bagtelle Las Vegas allowed for attendees to mingle at their leisure while sampling from a menu offering a variety of delicious dishes inspired by Southern France and the Riviera.

“At every quarterly event Meeting Planner Resources selects a local nonprofit organization to support,” says Jennifer Mahar, associate publisher for Meetings & Events Las Vegas. The proceeds raised through raffle prizes generously donated by many industry leaders help aid a charitable cause. This event’s recipient was Opportunity Village, which is a not-for-profit organization that serves people in the Southern Nevada community with intellectual disabilities, enhancing their lives and the lives of the families who love them. Through vocational training, community employment, day services, advocacy, arts and social recreation, citizens with severe disabilities are able to find new friends, realize future career paths, seek independence and community integration and unleash creative passions.

Mahar adds, “All of our partners made some very generous donations and because of that we were able to raise enough money to enable Opportunity Village to continue to pursue its mission.”

“On behalf of the 1,700 clients we serve at Opportunity Village,” says Resource Development Coordinator Sandy Ellis, “I would like to thank-you for the lovely event held at the Bagatelle with proceeds going to Opportunity Village. We are so lucky to have supporters, such as the members of Meetings & Events Las Vegas, who take the time to support our organization. All of the funds donated go directly to support the programs and services and clients that we serve every day. Thank you for MELV’s recognition of Opportunity Village.”

Unique to this event, guests were greeted with themed Blue Smoke specialty cocktails and had the opportunity to tour the property prior to the event.

“On behalf of The Pub and the Monte Carlo sales team, we would like to thank everyone for coming to the MELV event on November first,” says The Pub Sales and Promotions Manager Jovana Dakic. “It was a great success and a pleasure meeting each and every one of you. We also appreciate those who supported the Make-A-Wish Foundation that evening.”

As an added bonus, more than 100 of the event attendees were invited to experience the new Blue Man Group show with a private meet-and-greet after the performance.

“At every quarterly event, Meeting Planner Resources selects a local nonprofit organization to support,” says Jennifer Mahar, Associate Publisher for Meetings & Events Las Vegas. 100% of the proceeds raised through a raffle of prizes generously donated by many industry leaders always go to aid a charitable cause. For this event, Meetings & Events Las Vegas selected the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the premier wish-granting organization for children with life-threatening conditions, in support of 17-year-old Katherine O., who suffers from cystic fibrosis, which among other things has caused the dental anomaly of four missing permanent teeth. The Make-A-Wish staff has started working on finding dental specialists to do the makeover Katherine needs, which will be completed in January with the help of James K. Rogers DDS, MS from Canyon Ridge Periodontics.

To make Katherine’s wish even more unforgettable, this event raised nearly $2,500 in raffle proceeds and other donated items. While here in Las Vegas fulfilling her wish, Meeting & Events Las Vegas was able to arrange for La Quinta Inns and Suites to cover Katherine’s hotel stay the night of the event. Plus, she will get to participate in a photo shoot for which Breanna Stubbs at the Cristophe salon will do her hair and the Canyon Ranch SpaClub at the Venetian will provide a spa package for a manicure and pedicure. She also will get to enjoy racing at the indoor Pole Position Raceway, experience the living history of The Mob Attraction, eat at Hash House a Go Go and rub elbows with celebrities at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas. Nevada Ballet Theatre also provided two tickets for her to see The Nutcracker.

“This event’s partners included Bally’s Las Vegas, Barbra and Frank: The Concert That Never Was, Blue Man Group, Bootleg Canyon Flightlines, Callaway Golf, Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar, Fremont Street Flightlinez, Hard Rock Café, Hash House A Go Go, Mob Attraction Las Vegas, National Atomic Testing Museum, Nevada Ballet Theatre, The Pub at Monte Carlo, Vegas Indoor Skydiving and the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop,” says Mahar, “All of these partners made some very generous raffle donations, and because of that we were able to raise enough money to enable the Make-A-Wish Foundation to continue to pursue its mission and make Katherine’s wish come true.”

With tears of joy in her eyes when she learned of the additional gifts she was receiving along with her wish, Katherine remarked, “I am so overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown to me to make my wish so extra special.”

With the continued success of the quarterly events, Meetings & Events Las Vegas anxiously is awaiting the winter 2013 mixer, scheduled for February 7. Meetings & Events Las Vegas held its third quarterly event of 2012 at the World Famous Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, home of The History Channel’s Pawn Stars reality series. The event not only served as the official launch of the “Party with the Pawn Stars” event space at the shop, but it also introduced the new venue and various event services to industry experts and planners throughout Las Vegas. The summer event on August 2 brought together more than 300 event planners, hospitality vendors and industry professionals, once again proving that the event-planning industry and Meetings & Events Las Vegas are flourishing in 2012.

Although each Meetings & Events Las Vegas event has a different theme, the goal remains the same: to connect meeting planner clients with hospitality suppliers and industry professionals. The unique aspect of the venue and the opportunity for guests to mingle with the Pawn Stars cast members proved to be not only a major attraction for attendees of this event, but a draw for the future events at the venue.

Holding the event at the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop while business was still being conducted in the store front allowed attendees not only to tour the store and the Party with the Pawn Stars pad, but allowed Meetings & Events Las Vegas to bring in a lot of their own industry partners to assist in transforming the space into an event venue.

“Our MELV event was a great way to introduce Gold & Silver Pawn to a new audience and to get the message out to decision makers about the availability of our space for events,” says Gold & Silver Pawn Shop General Manager Theo Spyer. He adds, “It was tremendous fun and hundreds of people attended and enjoyed themselves.”

Of course the event would not have been possible without the generous support of the following esteemed event sponsors: The Capital Grille, Hash House A Go Go, Roy’s Restaurant, PBR and Ranch House Kitchen provided a fine assortment of food while complimentary cocktails and drinks were provided by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Harney & Sons, Pabst Blue Ribbon, smartwater and Trilogy Fine Wine & Spirits. For this event, Meetings & Events Las Vegas selected Three Square Food Bank, an organization that supports hunger relief programs that benefit more than 650 program partners in Southern Nevada, including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and after-school programs.

“Many of our partners made very generous raffle donations, and because of that we were able to raise enough money to enable Three Square to continue to pursue its mission,” says Mahar. Nearly 200 meeting professionals attended the Spring Event held at the recently opened Vintner Grill Strip at Neiman Marcus, proving again that the event planning industry is thriving in 2011.

Each quarterly event has a different theme but the same goal: connect meeting planner clients with hospitality suppliers and industry professionals. This seasons’ event at Vintner Grill Strip at Neiman Marcus allowed for attendees to mingle at their leisure in the elegant atmosphere above the luxury specialty retail department store at Fashion Show Mall. For many attendees, the MELV event was their first chance to experience the new venue, which is part of the Corrigan Restaurants portfolio, and see first hand why the location has received such rave reviews.

"We were thrilled to have hosted MELV at Vintner Grill Strip as part of our overall launch efforts; the support of their members has always been so important to us," said Michael Corrigan, owner and president of Corrigan Restaurants. "The opportunity to showcase the incredible views of the Strip and the venue flexibility along with our acclaimed cuisine and outstanding service was fantastic. I know attendees were especially interested to learn that we don't charge many of the traditional fees associated with private events on the Strip, and we've already received several calls from members. Overall, it was a great night."

Attendees where also treated to the vocal styling’s of musical artist J.C. which was provided by Soli Concepts Entertainment. J.C. is a Las Vegas native who has toured with national artists such as Jason Mraz, Boz Scaggs and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
